Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important to living a full, happy and long life. A main component of this is a person’s physical fitness, which is a result of regular exercise.
Unfortunately, many people feel they are far too busy to workout regularly and going to the gym can be extremely expensive. Also, for working parents, it is hard enough to find time to exercise, much less find childcare while working out.
A perfect solution is to work out at home. Having a home gym in a luxury few people can afford, but a simple treadmill is certainly within reach of most families.
A great option for the budget-conscious is a Weslo treadmill. These treadmills have all the features of more expensive models without the hefty price tag. That being said, they aren't perfect and let's find out why.
Weslo Treadmills an Affordable Option for Stay at Home Moms?
Weslo treadmills are an affordable option for someone looking to get a great workout at home. They are widely available and easy to set up. For stay-at-home moms, it is possible to fit in a quick, but intense workout during nap time.
Simply set up the baby monitor near the treadmill or have the child nap in a portable crib in the same room as the treadmill.
For someone with school-aged children, it is easy to run or walk on the treadmill while they complete homework assignments nearby.
For busy young professionals, getting a run in before or after a long day at work is much easier when they can run at home instead of traveling to a gym.
Studies have shown that walking or running several days a week can increase life expectancy, reduce risks for heart attacks, and reduce joint pain. A great short-term benefit of regularly running is reduced stress.
Helps Release Endorphins
Exercise actually causes the body to release pleasurable chemicals in the brain called endorphins. This is what causes the phenomenon “runner’s high.”
A run at the end of a hard day can help a person release the tensions from their entire body and get a better night’s sleep. For people looking to lose weight, a treadmill is a great way to get a cardiovascular workout, which is key to weight loss.
Additionally, running will build greater muscle mass in the legs and torso. Increased muscle mass will actually continue to burn more calories even when a person is not working out.
Finally, having a treadmill at home means that not only can a person exercise without the hassle of a gym, they are able to demonstrate to their children how important it is to exercise.
Children learn best by watching their parents and it has been shown that physically fit parents are most likely to have physically fit children. A Weslo treadmill is a great investment for any home and will have numerous health benefits for the entire family.
Taking a Look at Some of the Weslo Models
Below are two of Weslo's most popular devices on review:
Weslo Cardiostride Plus Manual Treadmill Review

First up is the Weslo Cardiostride Plus Manual. As the name implies this is a manual device, so there's no motor to help you along. Of course this is a much cheaper way to go if you absolutely need to save money.
Overall impressions on this treadmill is that it does suffer from creaking a little. And it might not be that suitable for heavier people (especially around 250 pounds).
Some people actually prefer the manual nature of this cost conscious machine. One of the drawbacks of a motorized treadmill is that it can seem like it's in control, not you.
With a manual model the speed is at your own pace and in some ways can give you an even better workout due to the extra effort you must exert.
Should you buy this Weslo treadmill? While they might not be perfect consider giving this one a shot, it might just workout to be both a savings and good workout, it's a decent cheap treadmill.

Weslo Cadence G-40 Treadmill Review

Next is one of their powered models, the Weslo Cadence G-40. It features a 2.25HP motor but it's important to note this is a peak rating, not continuous. What that means is the motor is not designed to give 2.25HP all the time, just in shorter bursts.
In comparison the Horizon T101 fares better in this regard as it also has a 2.25HP motor but that one is rated for continous use not peak (and is also more expensive).
Because of this the G-40 doesn't have quite the sustained power capability of a more expensive model. How does this affect your use? That will really depend on how hard to plan to run this device.
The warranty only lasts 90 days which means if something does go wrong then you would be responsible for the repair. There's definitely a trade off with the lower price of this one. Again the Horizon T101 outshines the Weslo here with a lifetime warranty.
If you don't plan to push it too hard then it should be fine but it's something to consider.
It also features a heart rate monitor, 4 setting training program, and cushioned surface. It's also fairly quiet which is good for places where the noise of this type of machine might annoy people in your home.
So while not 'great' this one is also a decent discount treadmill model to consider if you need to save money.
